At the successful completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  • List clinical signs and symptoms of dysphgia
  • List problems that may be seen as a result of dysphgia
  • List reliable clinical indicators at bedside that dysphagia is present
  • List medications that may cause or exacerbate dysphagia
  • List reliable indicators of aspiration
  • Define cervical auscultation
  • List abnormalities you might hear during cervical auscultation of swallowing
  • Name tests that may extend the clinical examination
  • List signs and symptoms of oral and pharyngeal dysphagia
  • Perform a cranial nerve exam
  • Perform a Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability
  • List anatomical landmarks of the Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing
  • Describe the principles and use of Vital Stim therapy for swallowing
Redo and Renew Receive another 10 hours credit during the next licensure period or calendar year with the State of Florida, and receive 10 hours for $40 CEU fee for redoing this course. To do this, simply retain the manual for the Compendium and receive another post test and set of activity sheets and ASHA bubble sheet by registering for the Compendium renewal.
